Insulating covers, shrouds, cover-ups and guards
Covers and shrouds that go over live electrical metal
A bare distribution conductor at 800 sq.mm runs up to 38 mm across the strands. Every part named here has to pass over metal already that size, already in place and usually energised, then come off again when somebody inspects what is underneath. Those two constraints pick the part more often than the voltage class does.
- Routed by what the bare metal is — conductor, bus connection, bushing, panel connection, crimped terminal, cable end.
- Every figure carries its test method in brackets. A kV number with no method behind it is not a specification.
- Re-entry is stated part by part: trimmed and refitted, unclipped and reused, or cut off and replaced.

Who manufactures the parts
Start from the bare metal, not the product family
Six shapes account for almost everything that gets covered. Identify yours and the part follows.
Bare overhead conductor, 15 to 38 mm across
GOC 1A to GOC 4 wrap-around polyolefin covers take conductors from 185 up to 800 sq.mm, on 30 metre rolls. Silicone GSOC runs in four voltage classes — GSOC-M to 12 kV, GSOC-H and H3 to 36 kV, GSOC-EH to 765 kV.
Bus connection, jumper, bushing or standoff insulator
GPFIC pre-formed covers are trimmed on site at the entry and exit holes. GPS 1099 opens 100 mm at the bottom, GPS 1178 40 mm left and bottom, GPS 1167 90 mm left and right. GPS 1165 arrives closed, cut on the conductor side.
A connection inside a switchgear panel
Moulded shrouds and the Insulshroud flexible PVC boot arrive with their fasteners, to be removed and refitted. Bushing boots in non-tracking elastomer insulate right-angled or straight bushing connections to 25 kV, tested to ANSI C37.20.2.
A crimped terminal or a flat tab
Termicap flexible PVC caps insulate and colour-code terminals crimped onto power cable. Termicover GTIC-1 to GTIC-3 has recesses on the tab shoulders that hold the terminal seated: 12 kV/mm minimum (ASTM D149), −20 to +115 °C (IEC 216).
A draw-out breaker, or a whole panel being shrouded
The circuit-breaker insulation boot is moulded in non-tracking cross-linked polyolefin to ANSI C37.20.2 and goes on and off in minutes — the whole argument for it on a breaker that gets racked out for maintenance.
A cable end, or whatever you meant by cable shroud
At least four different parts answer to that phrase. This page sorts them by what the cable is doing at that point, and passes the rest to the property that holds the datasheet.
Boundaries, stated once
Every cover, shroud, boot and cap named on this site is moulded or extruded by Gala Thermo Shrink Pvt. Ltd. of Mumbai — ISO 9001:2015, UL File E335936, supplied into more than 100 countries. Figures quoted throughout come from that manufacturer's published datasheets, and the company profile sits on galathermo.com.
"Insulation cover" is a phrase two industries share. The other one means a removable thermal jacket over a valve, a flange or a steam line, argued in thermal conductivity and skin temperature. Nothing on these pages fits a pipe.
Adjacent parts belong to named sibling properties and are linked rather than restated. A heat-shrink sleeve or an end cap on a flat bar inside an enclosure is busbarsleeves.com. A boot at a cable crutch or over a bushing termination is cablebreakoutboots.com. A cap on a pole crown or a timber pile top is anodecap.com, and a sleeve closed around a pole already standing in the ground is heatshrink-sleeve.com.
Re-entry is the line this site draws, because it is the line the datasheets blur. A GPFIC bus cover is trimmed on site and can be re-entered later; an Insulshroud boot ships with its fasteners. A shrunk-down sleeve is neither — it is cut away before a thermographic survey or a re-torque, and replaced.
Where the manufacturer publishes two numbers for one part, both appear here with the page each came from. The polyolefin Insulcover is the live example: Insulation Enhancement Products states enhancement up to 66 kV, Polyolefin Overhead Line Cover states 400 kV. Put that to the supplier in writing before a purchase order.

Conductor or bar size in sq.mm and in mm across the metal, the voltage class, the quantity, and whether the cover has to come off again. Four facts, one reply instead of six.
