The disclosure, before the content

This is a specialist desk, not an independent review. It is published and operated by Gala Thermo Shrink Pvt. Ltd. of Mumbai, the same company that moulds and extrudes the parts described on it. Read every comparison here in that light.

The subject is narrow on purpose: line covers, shrouds, cover-ups, guards and terminal caps, fitted over live electrical metal outdoors on a bare conductor and indoors on an assembled connection. Where the real question is about a different part, the page hands it on.

The factory was started in February 1979 by J.P. Gala and trades as Gala Shrink Fit. Moulding runs at two units, Palghar in Maharashtra and the Surat SEZ site in Gujarat. Mechanical and electrical testing to 50 kV is done in-house, beside the tool and die shop and the formulation lab, as published on the manufacturer's Insulshroud page. Accreditation, at the scope it was issued for

Each certificate with the range it was granted against, nothing stretched onto a part it does not name.

  • Management systems. Quality is certified to ISO 9001:2015, environment to ISO 14001:2015, occupational health to ISO 45001:2018. They govern how the factory is run. None says what a cover survives on a pole.
  • UL File E335936, listed in 2011, covering Busboot, Bustube and the Insulshroud PVC boot. A second file, E328538, was issued for the tubes, and neither is quoted on behalf of the other.
  • CPRI, ERDA and MSEDCL. The CPRI certificate of August 2012 is for joints and terminations at 33 kV; MSEDCL approved 11 kV in 2015, then 11 to 33 kV in 2016. Cable accessory approvals from a different family — none is a line-cover approval.
  • AEO certification, with sales into more than 100 countries. Customs and trade standing; it settles nothing in a specification clause.
  • Three laboratories in the same buildings: one for partial discharge, one high-voltage, one for general product testing. It is why a figure on a cover datasheet traces to a method rather than to a claim.

  • A value with no method beside it is not printed. A kilovolt figure without its test says nothing about the specimen it was measured on, so the bracket goes in every time.
  • Where the manufacturer's own pages disagree, both numbers go up with the source of each. The polyolefin cover is published at 400 kV on one catalogue page and 66 kV on two others, set out on the polyolefin line cover page rather than quietly averaged.
  • A gap stays a gap. Nothing is interpolated between two rows of a selection chart; where no size is published, the size chart prints the absence.
  • Nothing commercial is stated: no price, no lead time, no minimum quantity, no stock position. No source here holds one, and a figure quoted from memory ends up in a tender.
  • Every product page closes by naming one thing the part does not do. Usually the same thing: a cover over an energised conductor carries no touch rating. Why covers fail starts from that.

What is deliberately not published here

The address this reference sits at names a boot. Not one page here covers one, and none is written to rank for one.

The dividing line is re-entry, a physical property rather than a filing convenience. A part trimmed, unclipped and refitted for the next thermographic survey belongs here. A part that recovers onto the metal and then has to be knifed off does not.
